Show and Tell from Week 8

We had a very full, rich and exciting Show and Tell this week!! Chimari showed us a bracelet that she made with her Mum, Sally showed us some souvenirs from the Horse of the Year show, Jai had his new cool Spiderman pencil case, Rico had his new mouth guard for Ripper-Rugby, you go Rico!! Bridie had some colourful pens and felts, Robert had some great drawings, Le'Kaia had a cute little kitten toy, Logan has a colouring in book and Ava had a book with magical doors, wow!

But the best of all was Ben, who wore his Tae Kwon Do 'dobok' (uniform). We learnt that Taekwondo is a korean martial art and Ben does it twice a week with his family. He showed us some punches, kicks and blocks. It was cool!! Soon all the kids were keen to try it out, the girls too!!

The Homework Challenge Winner - "Connect with us"

This was a great challenge, and as mentioned we had a huge number of views on our blog!! Including many from other countries, we even got out the maps to locate some of these countries. This led to some interesting discussions!!

The winner for the challenge was Ava, who had 13 comments from friends, family and teachers. Well done Ava in mobilising people to support you!!

Also, well done to all those grown-ups who learnt how to add comments to a blog!!

Show and Tell from Week 7

This week again saw a range of things to discuss. Jai had his Lego men and Robert had Beyblades to discuss and explain.

Chimari showed us her new play dough set, which had lots of colours. Ava showed us her ballet trophy, and it seems we have a lot of great dancers in Room 3. Bridie showed us the page her Aunty put together of the big climbing trip.

We also had a visit from Emma, who is back from Romania!! She will start back in Room 3 on Monday. Welcome back, Emma!!

The highlight for most was that Show and Tell was with cake, cookies and drink as we celebrated a "100 Party" as we managed to get over 100 views on our class blog in a single day during our Homework Challenge this week. Yes, we got an amazing 252 views in a single day!!!

We learnt that a blog can be a way to promote ourselves and get noticed!!

We had entries on Dogs, Dinosaurs, Dads, Denim and the winner was Dinner by Shannon.

Her presentation had great images, pictures and a great story typed in the computer.

Show and Tell Week 6

This Friday Room 3 did Show and Tell with Ms Mehring.

Holly and Jah-Taea had soft toy buddies. Great with Easter coming up!! Ava had some shells from the Coromandel, Shannon had a soft toy lion. Bridie showed her pictures of the hill 'Tom's Knob' that she climbed and the river she swam in.

Homework Challenge Winner "C"

Wow!!

We have been getting some great results from our Homework Challenges so far this year.

This week we had the first ever Homework Challenge winner who did an in-depth character study on the movie "The Croods".

Well Done Sally!!  This is great learning and skills we can transfer to our reading and writing.

Homework Challenge Winner "B"

Sorry for the late posting of this one Ava.

Ava was the winner of the 'B' challenge with her presentation on Butterflies.

Ava had a range of text, images and also diagrams explaining the body parts and life-cycle of butterflies. Some of which she wrote and drew, and others were from the internet/computer.

Elmo's Weekend with Logan 8th - 9th March.

When I came from school to home I was watching TV with Elmo.

When we came back from the pools me and Elmo had a sleep. Then when we woke up we had something to eat. We had chicken nuggets and fish fingers. It was good.

And then we had ice cream, it had strawberries and jelly in it.

And Elmo got a little bit dirty, I accidentally stuck sauce on him. Mum had to give him a clean. We cleaned by drawers too.

We love "FRIDAY FUN"

On Friday afternoons we have a Junior Assembly with the other classes to build relationships, share successes and celebrate our learning with the presentation of certificates and singing of waiata.

Then we have some 'FRIDAY FUN' with games, sports and activities (depending on the weather).

This week the weather was great, so we decided to have lots of time in the sun.

Below are a few shots from the game 'Dead Ants' run by Mr Evans. It's a team tag game where you have to rescue 'dead ants' without getting tagged! It was hot and sweaty but lots of fun!

Show and Tell - Week 5

We all had lots to show, share and tell this Friday.

We had soft toys from Ava and Shannon. This was great as we did a lot of great writing on our favourite toys this week, so we finally got to meet some of them today!!

Bridie and Rico shared their colouring books. They were great. Boys and girls ones are quite different. Again these linked into our writing as we published stories on superheros on Monday and Rico had a superhero colouring book!! Cool...

Le'Kaia showed us a cool necklace too. It was colourful and stretchy.

Many others wanted to share their art works created at STRIVE TIME this morning. This was linking our Art to our Science learning on Dinosaurs.

Finding links between learning experiences is a great way to reinforce learning and broaden our learning further.
